Love Mac Sundays happen three-four times each year. During these special days, our worship to God happens “on the streets” and with our neighbors, instead of in the sanctuary. As a church, we seek to extend God’s blessing to those around us in our community through serving, no strings attached.

There are a variety of community ministry opportunities for you to get involved in. McMinnville Covenant partners with several other local helping agencies, community churches and ministries. To volunteer or for more information, contact the ministry representative.

Angel Tree
Angel Tree, a ministry of Prison Fellowship, reaches out to the children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ. It seeks to transform the lives of these families and to reconcile them to their Heavenly Father and each other. Angel Tree provides an opportunity to connect with those families and begin ministering to them at Christmas and then continue through a variety of year-round ministry opportunities. The imprisoned parent  participates in Bible study while incarcerated, while Angel Tree families might be matched with community families or churches. Angel Families are referred for services through a prison Chaplain. In addition to providing toys & clothing at Christmas, McMinnville Covenant Church (MCC) groups and/or families could serve & befriend Angel Families in a variety of year-round ways.

City Outreach (CO)
City Outreach, launched by New Horizons Church, is a ministry helping to serve community people & families in need. Multiple local churches help to staff this volunteer-driven ministry. CO operates a “distribution store” where needy families can “shop” once per month for clothing, household items, linens, etc. CO works with other area helping agencies to assist more than 200 families per month.  Donations of useable household furniture, kitchen supplies, linens, and clean wearable clothing are always welcome.  Service volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks, as well as to befriend and pray with families. CO is open from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon  on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  MCC hosts the first Saturday of every month – which means we need a team of 5-6 people for shopper check-in, donation triage, backroom assistance, Children’s Corner, and Prayer.

Dental Van (Medical Teams International)
The Dental Van provides free emergency dental care for low income, or insured, or other needy people.  The dental van operates on donated funds provided through Northwest Medical Teams, and relies on volunteer labor provided by dental professionals. MCC provides a physical location for the van. Ways you can be involved in this very valuable ministry include donate time if you are a dental professional, help solicit professional donated time, assist with scheduling, host an inside coffee waiting area (Fireside Room), and/or donate funds.

Elders Fund
This MCC emergency fund helps provide support for special needs that may arise within the MacCov family or community situations.  The Elders and MCC Staff administer the fund.  Funds become available through special giving donations that are designated as “Elder Funds”.

Pregnancy Counseling and Information Centers
“A local ministry providing a door of hope” was established in 1988 to respond to the needs resulting from crisis pregnancies. Our local PCIC always welcomes volunteers who minister in a variety of ways including counseling, hotline workers (can be done from your home), shepherding homes for pregnant girls, fundraising, financial donations, donated baby clothing, furniture & accessories, and donated maternity clothing.

Soup Kitchen
The soup kitchen, sponsored by St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, provides hot evening meals on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. Several local churches have volunteer teams that assume responsibility for designated monthly days.  Volunteers are always needed to help cook, serve, and clean-up after the meals.  MCC has a Volunteer Group, or you can start another volunteer group, or you can volunteer with other local teams.

The Salvation Army (TSA)
TSA is a Christian organization that helps meet the “physical and spiritual needs in times of crisis for individuals or families.”  Our local Salvation Army has many active adult, family, and children’s ministries to help meet spiritual needs, and also coordinates many Yamhill County emergency services. Volunteers are always needed and can help with food boxes (Wednesday & Friday afternoons), drivers to pick up donated foods, and seasonal special project assistance. TSA also functions as an “emergency hub” for our community in the event of a large scale disaster, and is in need of trained volunteers who can function as emergency teams.

Community Garden at The Salvation Army
MCC was instrumental in starting the community garden six growing seasons ago. The goal of the garden has always been a ministry to “help the hungry grow healthy” by learning new food growing skills, and also by helping supply fresh produce to local food banks. The garden this year grew more than 3,000 pounds of fresh produce for the Army food bank. There are many ways you can help in this growing ministry for regular garden service and/or special projects. Families and kids can also volunteer. It’s a great way for kids to learn about how some types of food grow.

Yamhill County Gospel Rescue Mission (Cold Weather Shelter)
YCGRM is in its infancy of developing a 24/7 gospel mission to  provide shelter, food, clothing, and skill-building for homeless Yamhill County residents as they transition back to self-sufficiency. The gospel rescue mission operations rely on Christian volunteers to help mission guests accept the saving grace of the gospel and Jesus. Volunteers can help cook,  provide a meal,  volunteer to monitor a work shift, help with special projects, and assist financially.
